The Power of Acupressure

As I began studying how to use the sound healing instruments to promote wellness in my clients, I learned about Crystal bowls, tuning forks, Himalayan Singing Bowls, chanting, toning and healing with musical stringed instruments.  I focused on tuning forks for their portability and power.  I was searching for an instrument I could use to help quickly focus people on their body and how it feels in order to reconnect them.  I love the sound healing of many instruments but after reading up on the Otto tuning forks, I saw how I could quickly demonstrate healing benefits to skeptics.

With the Otto 128, or Ohm, tuning fork, the vibrations quickly run through the body spreading warmth and relaxation.  Otto tuning forks are weighted on the fork end to push the vibrations down into the stem.   I read to place the tuning fork stem on the bones of the hips, chest, shoulders, and forehead.  I did and was quite impressed with the results each time.   I tried them on family, co-workers, and friends with great results.

Human Tuning: Sound Healing with Tuning Forks by John Beaulieu mentioned a few times the importance of learning the acupressure points.  The combination of the two healing modalities would accelerate total relaxation and opening of the bodies energy systems for wellness.   In simpler terms, the vibration of the tuning forks stimulate circulation and reduce inflammation.  Using the tuning forks on myself and family, I was able to duplicate the healing benefits.  Following his suggestion, I enrolled in an online course for acupressure.

After two months of classes, I learned the acupressure points on the shoulders, face, back, hips, legs and feet.  After practicing on many people, I have learning how powerful this healing art can be!  When combined with Reiki, acupressure is like a laser focus to target and relax area of stress in the body opening the door for Reiki to flow through and balance the whole body.  I have learned how to relieve my digestive issues with slow digestion and gall bladder congestion to the back pain from tight hips and the deep ache in my foot from tight quadriceps muscles.   Why not use the tuning fork on these points?

With simple light pressure on tender acupressure points from the resonating tuning forks, the tenderness dissipates in most cases and the meridian opens in seconds afterwards.  It works super fast in children as they are naturally more open.  This also helps them to trust me for doing some Reiki on certain unwell areas of the body.  Kids learn so fast and will point out sore places in their body with ease.  With adults I may need to apply the tuning fork twice.  This is huge step forward as holding acupressure points for 2-5 minutes to open them is taxing on the fingers, hands, and forearms.  The tuning forks help to open these point so fast.  It is amazing how much our bodies talk to us and we ignore them!

The more that I learn, the more I realize the deep ache in my foot is from a tightness in my hip, or that the sharp pain in my foot is from the gall bladder being blocked-nothing a quick application of the tuning fork can not help! It is truly an incredible healing art.  I strive to teach each client the points on their own body so they can continue the healing at home.

I have recently purchase the Otto 64 to balance the nervous system and the Otto 32 to help with lymphatic drainage.  These are a welcomed addition to the healing sound tools that I have at my disposal.  The other tuning forks are used to balance the body and integrate the higher energies of Reiki and sound into the energy field of the body.  This is incredibly powerful combinations of healing work.  I am super grateful to have been guided to learn all of these things and have friends and family willing to let me learn with them.

Great things have been brought to light during sessions the last few months.  The work utilizing both the Karuna Reiki®, Usui Reiki, Tuning forks, and chanting has been deep, profound, and wonderfully healing.  The transformations and breakthrough’s have been incredible and I feel truly blessed to have been a part of the process.   Release the heavy energy and transmute into light…

Relationships-another being

So much emphasis is on our life milestones, graduation, carrier, marriage, and pregnancy in our society, but very little focuses on the present moment of tending to our relationships.  It is so easy to focus on the goals and forget about the here and now.  But how we lose our connection with our family and friends is by looking always to the future, the next step, and forgetting to be in the moment with them right now.  What helps me, is to think of the relationship as another entity.

If I think of my relationship with my husband as a separate being, I can fully see what is missing.  I can see that I am focusing on our roommate issues when we are together thus neglecting time seeing him in a loving light.  We rarely have time together anymore without kids or jobs dancing in front of us pulling our attention, so what time we have I must tend to the relationship.  I sit with him and talk of life, or spend time playing, dancing, and singing together.   I must focus on seeing him and being grateful for the little moments, and we must see each other.  Making room for the relationship to blossom in your life is huge. Set aside time for roommate stuff later…if that time ever comes, because really does that matter? Play with your partner.

I love to look at the sculpture (see below) from the Burning Man festival this year.  This is truly what is happening when we are neglecting the soul of our relationship.  Our inner spirit wants to play and dance with our partners but somehow our grown up selves easily lose sight of what’s important, the heart of the relationship.  Same for the relationship with our children.

inner child

Growing up is scary.  As a child there is so much big world out there too busy to notice him.  As grown ups we have to teach kids boundaries for functioning in society outside of our homes, but also how to stay connected to their playful soul.  By focusing on spending a few minutes every day to play with them, draw, sing, dance, we are cultivating a love of life in them.  Our relationship with them is one of a teacher, and a friend.  Most importantly, we need to be sure that we are the center of the universe and they orbit us, the parents.

As parents our relationship deserves attention and is as important to the family as they are.  We must make time for our relationship because it came first.  Children must learn that they are second to our relationship as the parents, they do not get all time and attention.  They must share with mom and dad, from simply waiting for the grown-ups to finish talking to allowing the parents to direct after dinner rituals and a bedtime that makes room for parent alone time.  Stick to your word, do not waver.  Kids are comforted by the strength of their parents love for each other, especially in the moment to moment behaviors.  Being strong and consistent with rules and your word is key, always keeping in your mind’s eye the relationship that you have with them.  The relationship always needs tending, not just the child that you see.girls-462072_1920 (1)

Shine light on the heart of your relationships, acknowledge them and they will grow!

Journey in Attuning the Body, Mind and Spirit

After studying world religions in college and then studying world health systems from an anthropological perspective, I decided to enter the medical field in my home town of Athens, Georgia and see what I could learn and do to help reform and improve medicine.  My journey began with studying the Mayan Curanderos of Chiapas, Mexico to assisting a chiropractor and then assisting an eye surgeon. I have learned so much!

Peruvian Curandero

With the months I spent in Mexico learning about the Mayan people, I discovered the power of the indigenous healer continued in present day.  The curandero or shaman would clean the physical body of the spirits afflicting their client with a spray of coke while sitting on the floor in a dark church with crudely formed wax candles set on the earthen floor in dried wax mounds.  Chickens wandered around and there was some hay scattered on the floor.  Visiting the church with no one there, I was aware of the power that inhabited that room.  All the people involved certainly felt a healing transformation took place.  Who was I to say any different?  The healer was not using knives, or pills, but she was using her power in ancient traditions of spiritual healing.  Why is healing the mind and spirit not as important as healing the body?  How often does our medicine in the US not work?  What are we missing?

While assisting in chiropractic I learned the focus is on realigning the spine to allow the body to heal itself.  Let the spinal fluid flow as designed and the body can heal.  This healing art has great methods to work on whole body health, wellness and pain management.  Their focus is to help prevent surgeries that Western medicine turns to when pills fail to help the patient feel better.   A good chiropractor also works with a client on muscle strength and flexibilty to prevent future injury.  They focus on helping the muscle to repair from the injury and maintain the structural balance of the body.  While fascinating and a valid healing in the right hands, I still felt this was missing a huge piece of the healing people needed.  This healing art does not tend to the Soul of the matter.

My attention then turned to Reiki in Athens, GA by chance.  I had a new job as an ophthalmic medical assistant and jumped in to learning all about the eyes.  One day my mother told me with excitement how she had twisted her ankle terribly while walking in the garden at this party.  A woman there asked if my mom would allow her to do Reiki on her ankle, as she was just learning and wished to help.  My mom said that after several minutes of Reiki, her ankle felt much better.  And by the time she left the party, she could not tell any injury remained.  Soon after I ran into a high school friend who said she taught Reiki, I set up an appointment to learn right away.   After I left the Reiki attunement, I knew it worked, but I didn’t understand how.

The next several years I spent offering to help friends and co-workers that had hurt themselves, if I felt comfortable that they would not look at me like I had lost my mind.  I was super shy with whom I would offer to help.  Once I had my children, I did Reiki for them all the time if they were scared, had a burn, couldn’t sleep or upset tummy, soothing them easily.   Reiki helped everyone feel better, it worked by seeming to accelerate healing.  Overtime I began to understand the action for healing was focus healing energy to vibrate at a higher frequency than we are normally.  It seems to increase the healing action in cells metabolically to push healing through all stages quickly.  Kids need very little Reiki time to feel better where as adults require much more.  How could I teach people about Reiki without sounding too “out there” and create a practice helping people heal?

After years of helping people to see better and spending time helping patients relax for in office procedures, I learned as an assistant I have the ability to listen to and educate the patients, while the doctor tends to the part of the body he studied, the eyes.  The amount of knowledge is incredible in medical doctors, but there is little focus on tending to the whole person.  It’s fully treating the symptoms with “lite” education on maintenance and prevention.  With all the changes in billing and healthcare regulations recently, it is near impossible to keep up with all the charting and coding necessary to actually get paid.  As an assistant, I no longer have the time to educate patients well.  Definitely a little amount of time left for patient care. So I have renewed my focus on Reiki.

The next step for me was to fully develop my Reiki skills and advance further in the healing art.  I had a Master level attunement which increase the intensity of the Reiki vibrations and frequency which meant the healing time was quicker for acute injuries.  I found a burn that turned the skin white would take 5 minutes of reiki to help push through all the phases of healing while before that  would have been 20-30 minutes.   The increased power of the healing energy I channeled also left me a bit spacey and I had to work hard to ground myself to be able to return to working with patients.  At the next opportunity, I took a class to learn even more with Karuna® Reiki.  Here is where I learned about Spiritual connections and hearing intuition.  Yet another increase in the intensity of the Reiki energy.  What a powerful experience!  And yet there is more… Karuna® reiki is attuning to the energy frequencies of the Archangels and channeling that energy here on Earth.  I was skepticle of this but once I was open to the possibilities of this being true, the ideas of where to treat and the next steps to help clients were easy to hear.  So why not?

We are missing a healing of the soul and mind in Western medicine here in the USA.  Knee hurts-here take this, does it work? No?… Inject this, still not helping? Lets cut this… no discussion of how to take care of oneself or other methods to try for healing.  If someone is playing an instrument and it is out of tune, do we throw away the whole instrument?  We would not dare trash something as expensive as a musical instrument but what about our bodies?  Why would we throw away something as precious as an organ in our bodies simply because it is out of tune? Why not tune the body to prevent disease?  Let’s reset the energetic vibration of an organ that is malfunctioning and help it to work again.

Frequency and vibrations describe not just energy waves but the movement of sound as well.  Brain entrainment through hearing binural beats is another area to explore with Sacred Acoustics.  A lesson in quantum physics helps understanding.  Here is were Reiki and sound healing overlap.  Follow this link to learn more from Alexandre Tannous, a well-known sound healer.

Many disease are from chronic inflammation preventing circulation and blocking our life energy which helps healing.  Eastern medicine focuses on this for basic wellness.  The study of Thai Chi focuses on moving the body and learning to be aware of the life energy in movement of our body.  These are things we knew as children but forgot.  In some hospitals in India they actually have musicians trained in healing through music playing for patients in recovery.  As much focus is on wellness and healing as on the disease.  This is what we need here in the USA.   We need to learn how to tune our bodies.  This is why I am bringing tuning fork therapies into my Reiki practice.  Specifically from biosonics as they show the science and technology behind the manufacturing of their tuning forks.  They are specifically designed for the overtones they transmit as well as the base frequency.  The intensions and feelings can be transmitted with the sound and carried into the body of another.   All religions and indigenous cultures have the same creation story–God spoke and created life.  A study of Cymatics -watch videos on youtube- shows how sound can truly create form in medium of water or sand.  So again why not?

It is truly quite amazing.  Come experience a session for yourself and then you decide.

Reiki and Sound Healing

In my practice, I focus on helping clients to relax, tune their bodies, and heal.  It is my job to help you remember what it felt like to have your body functioning as a whole system vibrating in tune and in harmony.  As children, most of us were able to experience health and wellness.  As adults it is easy to forget what this feels like with responsibilities and stress piling upon us.  We push away our feelings of spontaneity.  We forget to play.  We forget to sing.  We forget to dance.  Let me help you remember what well-being feels like.

Digital CameraA session with me involves a discussion of your goals, from healing aches and pains, to reaching weight loss goals, to focusing on creative writing, to breaking bad habits, or even to figuring out the source for a chronic illness… whatever you wish, your imagination is the limit.  With sound healing, the goal is to elevate your energy vibration so that you may clear heavy dense energies of fear, anger, pain, that hold you down.  Reiki is an Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) therapy that matches the frequency of the ionosphere most of the treatment.  It help by relaxing you deeply matching your rhythm to that of the planet interestingly enough.  It has been measured with biomagnetic instruments to pulse at about 7 cycles per second (cps) which almost matches the Schumann resonance.  Reiki is called energy from the heavens perhaps for a reason.

With sound healing, the vibration can break up blocks of energy where you hold pain or old injury that stops the circulation and causes disease.  The goal is to identify the heavy energy or block and release or clear it away.  This allows the body to heal and stay at the higher vibration, radiating brightness and love.  In this state we are fully connected with our body released from the inner critic.   This is a position of strength and well-being.

Once we have set the intention, we may spend a few minutes in meditation, focusing on relaxing the body, then we work with tuning your body at key acupressure points with Biosonic tuning forks if needed.  Next I will use Reiki to guide the journey home.  Your body will vibrate together with a relaxing or energizing hum.  The sense of being connected to your body will continue for many days.  A few clients report old emotional issues bubbling to the surface, for a deeper healing.  Others report that their arthritis in their knees will disappear for weeks.  I have even had some clients who suffer back pain when under stress, be able to connect the old emotion that goes with it in order to help release and help those old wounds.  You can heal yourself!

Sound healing is growing in the approaches and the methods available.  The main idea behind the sound healing is that the vibration cares the intention and carries deep into the body on an emotional and cellular level.  Everything is made up of vibratory energy and thus vibrations have the potential to heal deeply.  I have been treating the disruptions in the energy field far out from a person’s body with reiki and then slowly moving in towards the physical body to help clear them.  With chanting I have found the work is far more powerful.  If the energy disruption persists, I can focus in to help smooth it out with tuning forks and acupressure and a little bit of talking to help identify the old emotions tied in, and fill it in with the healing Reiki energy using chanting to help the feeling of compassion travel deeper.

A healing modality called Biofield Tuning uses tuning forks out in the biofield to identify disruptions and then cohere them into the energy field for healing.  This technique is incredibly powerful, and I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for that deeper level of healing.  With a few sessions old patterns of emotions and internal dialogues are easier to identify and release.  The inner critic has a way of creeping back in and this method provides a great way to tap in and healing this aspect of the day to day existence.  Biofield Tuning is great for headaches, migranes, concussions, PTSD, chronic neck pain, back pain, slow digestion, feeling “stuck” and many more issues.

These two healing modalities I have found to be similar in the work of polishing up the energy field around a person, but with Reiki healing energy is channeled in to assist when a person is sick.  This can be very beneficial when someone has cancer, a broken bone, sprained ankle, concussion, flare up of Arthritis.  Biofield tuning is super helpful to release old patterns, old injuries, and help release the emotional baggage causing the auto-immune disorders, but during the acute phase of illness or injury Reiki is better suited.
